Location: O'Donnell Hall, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1441 West Balboa Boulevard, Newport Beach

In America, the freedom of religion is foundational and fundamental. Our Constitution, it is often said, calls for a 'separation of church and state.' How should we understand this prescription, and what does it require of religious believers and institutions that engage in public and political life?  Join us for a Hesburgh Lecture Series talk, "Is Religious Freedom Still 'Our First Freedom'? Understanding the Separation of Church and State Today," where Professor Richard Garnett will engage these questions and more.

The talk will start at 7:30 p.m. at O'Donnell Hall, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 1441 West Balboa Blvd., Newport Beach, Calif.

The public is invited. There is no admission charge.

The talk is co-sponsored by the Notre Dame Club of Orange County and the OLMC Monthly Speaker Series 2017
